take this chapter 4 GO
Chapter 4 x--The child had passed a few tunnels running off into the distance while on his journey to the tower. It shot out of the ground, and held numerous rooms. As he slipped in, a chilling breeze had rushed past him, urging him on. He took a few steps forward. The child looked directly up. A dragon head rested on the top of the ceiling, staring into the child's soul.
Discomfort.
He walked on, traversing up the stairs and windings. Regardless of the height of the citadel, the child had made it to the voluptuous sky rise in no time. Grand doors rising above him had stood face to face with the child.
Fear.
He gave a tiny knock and a knick, and a soft voice from the heart of the room had said, "Enter." The child entered, and a wave of heat washed over the child. He relaxed and calmly sauntered in. A fireplace and it's hearth were warming together against the wall; a distinguished man had sat at a desk. "Hello, you must be the new Ascender. We have much to sift through."
The child walked down a long strip of an elegant blue rug, and finally sat down on a chair delicately placed in front of the desk.
"Ascension. Definitely not a lovely thing, darling. Let's settle things first: I am Headmaster Valor. I do not expect you to remember your name, as an Ascender suffers tentative Amnesia. Do not fret, child, your memory will be restored within the right time.
"Ascenders are tough, brutal people. The only way to arrive in another world is to either ascend or to teleport; ascension is a process in which the user eventually dies a traumatic death, allowing them to resurrect into a different world, such as this one. Ascension can happen up to about seven times; your time will eventually come when you will die again and resurrect, yet again. The only difference being that you will not suffer Amnesia.
"In a few days, when you finally regain your memory, you will be attending Spectreun, a School For the Magically Inclined. Luckily, the school year is renewing. You will make many friends here, you will have your own dormitory, and you will, yes, take part on quests.
"By now I'm guessing you have you been wondering how this "Ascension" process takes place? Yes, your are correct. Magic. Magic exists in this world, as well as all others, including your original one. When the reproduction is dabbled with, you will get a magical being. This meddling can not be helped; we have not detected anything that causes this. It is the way of the universe, child.
"On with our conversation, child. When Ascension occurs, so does Death." The child shuddered. "Again, the dabbling of magic had occurred in you. This has filled the first tier of Ascension. Death fills the second tier, allowing Ascension to happen. This is how the process unfolds." Headmaster Valor concluded his conversation, waiting for the child to confirm he understands. The child nodded, and things were starting to come back. Aubree, his sisters name, and driving to see her made him ecstatic. She was gone for some reason... college. That was it. His father wanted to tour around, and suddenly, a new feeling had clouded the child.
"Headmaster Valor, I remember everything now..." This was the first time the child spoke a complete sentence in a while. The memory came back with a pang of happiness, yet with sorrow and grief. His family was now gone, although he was sure his dad was somewhere now, maybe even in a different world. Hope had glimmered through the child's body and illuminated his skin. The iridescence of his skin was marvelous.
An Awakening was taking place.
The magic has been activated.
